| Below: Children observe carnivorous plants that produce unusual foliage and flowers. These unique plants trap insects as a source of food and can add interest as well as color to the Florida garden. Many are hybridized for their color characteristics. Those pictured here can only be grown in parts of central Florida as annuals, because they require a period of dormancy. These plants are found in the wild in northern Florida, nearer the panhandle of the state. This link provides a list of links with carnivorous plant information: Must Visit Carnivorous Plant Websites (Carnivorous Plants Online). Here is a link from the International Carnivorous Plant Society containing frequently asked questions about carnivorous plants: FAQ. |
